If your child is returning to HESD, please log onto your parent view account and select the Registration option, click here to log into your parentvue account and follow the steps to re-enroll student. If you don’t remember your parentvue log in or password, contact your school of residence for assistance.

Children turning 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 will register for regular kindergarten and children turning 5 years old between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025 will register for the Transitional Kindergarten class.

Transitional Kindergarten is defined as the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. Transitional Kindergarten builds a bridge between the preschool years and traditional kindergarten.

You need a Certificate of Live Birth (birth certificate) and complete immunization record.  It is also recommended that parents obtain a school entry physical as you will need this when your child is in 1st grade.

If your child will become 5 years old on or before June 2, 2025 and you live in the Hanford Elementary School District attendance area, enrollment and registration is now available online, log onto hanfordesd.org. Please contact your home school office the week of March 18, 2024 for any questions

California law, Education Code Section 49452.8, now requires that your child have an oral health assessment (dental check-up) by May 31 in either kindergarten or first grade, whichever is his or her first year in public school. Assessments that have happened within the 12 months before your child enters school also meet this requirement. The law specifies that the assessment must be done by a licensed dentist or other licensed or registered dental health professional.

Every child is required to obtain a school entry physical within 18 months of entry into first grade or within 90 days thereafter. HESD provides the school entry physical form titled the California Department of Health Services (DHS) form with the kindergarten registration packet. We strongly encourage parents to ask their physician for a school entry physical while at the doctor's office completing immunizations. This will eliminate the need to make a separate appointment with your physician to complete the school entry physical

Each school also has a list of prohibited gang related apparel. This information is sent home with your child on the first day of school. Contact your child's school if you need another copy.

Kings Community Action Organization (KCAO) organizes the pre-school programs that are conducted both on HESD campuses and at other locations in and around Hanford .

If you are interested in pre-school, please contact KCAO at 1130 N. 11th Ave, Hanford, 582-4386.

Bus transportation is provided for students, grades K-6, who live more than 3/4 of a mile from the school, and for students grade 7-8 who live more than one mile from their school. Contact your school to see if you qualify to receive bus services.

Students must start school at their school of residence (home school). Intradistrict transfers are accepted in the Office of Child Welfare and Attendance at the District Office between September 15th and October 1st of each year. Transportation is not provided for students on an intradistrict transfer.

You may complete an interdistrict transfer request in the office of Child Welfare and Attendance by coming to the District Office located at 714 N. White St. Bus transportation is not provided for students on an interdistrict transfer.
